The unexpected shutdown of social media in the Africa and other countries of the world has raised millions of reactions from users of the platforms.

Some people believe this could be an end to social networking platforms affected in the world.

On Monday, October 4, 2021, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger went down at about 5:20 pm (WAT).

The cause of the shutdown of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger is yet to be known.

Some Nigerians have tried to use VPN in accessing their social media accounts, but the problem seems to be a global issue as all countries may be experiencing this.

WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are currently experiencing a major outage around the world and all are owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

Visitors to the WhatsApp web are experiencing 5xx Server Error while others app run by the company were all down together.

In their verified WhatsApp’s twitter account, the company said it is aware of the issue, saying the tech company is working to get things back up and running.

“We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!”
